Groom is a short film about a young, school leaver called Hannah who is on a trial shift at a beauty salon. It’s a story about coercive relationships, consent, puberty and sexual desire.
Groom won the Attic Pitch at Glasgow Short Film Festival, First Prize FLICKERS' Rhode Island International Film Festival. Best Cinematography Interfilm Berlin. Best Short Film World of Film Festival Glasgow. Groom won Best Short at HB Film Festival. Best Short Film with LGBTQ+ Themes The Academy of DeathRacers. Nominated for Scottish BAFTA 2022 and Critics Circle Award 2023. Film played at Edinburgh International Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival amongst others.
I worked with Leyla to compose a soundscape that illustrated the layers of tension that emerge through the film, with dissociations and slippages between the image and sound building throughout the work.

Groom was nominated for Best Short Film at the Scottish BAFTA awards 2022.
